I don't mind a movie that makes you think, that's not simply passive, mindless enjoyment. The sort of film that you must pay attention to, catch every nuance of and really think about. By my God, this one was chore to sit through. When it was over, my better half said, Well, I suppose I'll need to go onto the internet and try to figure out what all that meant. I said Don't bother. It was just two hours of my life I'll never get back.

Solid essay, man. As always. Personally, I absolutely loved the intentional bad cuts of I'm Thinking of Ending Things. This is a deliberate choice from Kaufman and I think not only does it add to the unsettling, uncomfortable nature of the tone of the film, but it directly relates to how the characters are experiencing the world around them through their perspective. Clearly, Kaufman did not want to address what the film is actually about, and I believe any audience member will come up with their own interpretation, but I believe the editing is rooted in the juxtaposition of the two perspectives in the film: Jessie Buckley's character, and Jesse Plemons character. Their unending conversation (both internally and externally) alongside the editing technique are messing with time to give credence to where their relationship will inevitably end up: drifting apart through physical death or boredom. I try and support this opinion of mine with the example of the topic that Jesse Plemons character brings up through a David Foster Wallace Book (A Supposedly Fun Thin I'll Never Do Again - GREAT READ BTW. Both the title and subject he interjects into the conversation give meaning to what potentially is happening to them in the story. The editing is paced in a way to give it not only a sense of irony, but to itself be ironic in how it's skipping through time in telling us the story. Super Meta, maybe, but I think it works. Thanks again for this video, man! Glad to support, excited for more.

This popped in my subscriptions, when I pause THIS VERY MOVIE to make some tea. This is spooky. I wonder if directors sit around and talk about all the easter eggs in their movies no one has found yet.

In dark room about to go to sleep. Watchmojo: heres some creepy things to help your mind play tricks on you. I really wish they stuck a bit closer to the book on the ending. It was creepy and weird and we didnt need to see the pretentious musical sequences. Plus the car scenes couldve been trimmed by 10 mins each one. Amazing video.

Jacobs Ladder the party scene with the spike coming out of her mouth. Shoulda been in there. Her name starts off as Lucy, then it changes to Louisa and Lucía, both similar names. But then almost at the end her name randomly changes to Amy. I think it represents the janitor's descent into dementia and how he keeps forgetting her name and calling her different ones, less accurate each time. Can't wait to watch it. You're nuts. In a good way. Thanks!now it's all clear. I watched this movie and I was very focused, because I've heard it's complicated.

When you realize theres only one character in the film 😳. This is just my reading. Let me know what you all think. The film is not a straightforward horror it's a psychological drama the books more horror though. Another non horror example, in Spider-Man when Harry Osborne has the dream of the Green Goblin jump scare, its so brief its almost impossible to catch but just as Goblin jumps into the camera far behind him in a dark space of the ceiling is a whole other Green Goblin just standing there staring at the audience.

The older releases of The Wizard of Oz has the dead Munchkin before they caught it and re-released it with a bird where it was. Hello, I dont speak English, but I sincerly hope everyone find the love and happiness in the life. Ever is possible. 10:00 look to where the start of the dark blue clouds at the bottom right close to the boats are. For the whole entire thing I was very confused and waiting for this shocking revelation of what was actually going on. It never came. I wish I had read the book or just the IMDB reviews beforehand, I think I would've enjoyed it much more. If only they'd cut out the long car scenes with irrelevant conversations and the unnecessary dance scenes it might've been interesting enough but with them it's 2+ hours of your life wasted on being confused.
